Mechanism of action

Mirtazapine enhances central noradrenergic and serotonergic activity by antagonizing alpha-2-adrenergic receptors and serotonin 5-HT2 and 5-HT3 receptors. This mechanism leads to an increased release of norepinephrine and serotonin.
