Is fostair a CFC-free inhaler?

Clinicians should be aware that Fostair® is more potent than traditional beclometasone dipropionate CFC-free inhalers — dose of beclometasone dipropionate in Fostair® should be lower than non-extra-fine formulations and will need to be adjusted to the individual. For moderate to severe COPD by inhalation of aerosol — 2 inhalations twice daily.

What are the properties of fostair ®?

The properties listed below are those particular to the combination only. For the properties of the components please consider Fostair ® contains extra-fine particles of beclometasone dipropionate and is more potent than traditional beclometasone dipropionate CFC-free inhalers.

How is fostair used to treat asthma?

A. Maintenance therapy: Fostair is taken as regular maintenance treatment with a separate as needed rapid-acting bronchodilator. B. Maintenance and reliever therapy: Fostair is taken as regular maintenance treatment and as needed in response to asthma symptoms.

What is the difference between fostair and beclometasone?

Ask your pharmacist or doctor about both of these. You'll usually be given another inhaler called a "reliever" to relieve your symptoms when they occur. Beclometasone sometimes comes mixed with formoterol. This type of inhaler is both a preventer and a reliever, and brand names include Fostair.

Can fostair® be used as a reliever?

(Please note: some people can be prescribed the combination brand Fostair® as a reliever treatment, but it should only be used in this way when a doctor has said it can be used as a rescue treatment.) If after using the inhaler for the first time your breathing becomes worse or you suddenly start to wheeze, please let your doctor know straightaway.

What is fostair pMDI?

Your doctor, nurse or pharmacist has prescribed Fostair pMDI to help you to manage your asthma (100/6 and 200/6) or COPD (100/6 only). ‘pMDI’ stands for ‘pressurised metered dose inhaler’, and your prescribed inhaler should look like one of the inhalers shown here.
