Zen yoga poses include: Zen yoga classes are ideal for beginners in yoga, as well as advanced students who prefer more gentle forms of exercise. The classes are easy to follow and are accessible to everyone, regardless of experience, age, and body shape. The main principle of Zen yoga is maintaining an erect spine and a correct alignment.
What is a Zen yoga Taiso?
Many Zen temples have a scheduled exercise period called a taiso, during which Zen yoga is practiced. This might include yoga postures, repetitive movements and flowing sequences, which seem more like Tai Chi. They are all intended to prepare the body for sitting in meditation, much like the origins of Hatha yoga.
Where does Zen yoga come from?
Zen Yoga comes from a very special ancestry. Our main teacher and founder, Julian Daizan Skinner Roshi, studied in Zen monasteries in the UK and Japan for about two decades, becoming a full Zen Master in the Rinzai tradition. In 2007 Daizan returned to the UK to share what he had learned, and in 2011 he set up ZenYoga
