Dupixent (dupilumab) is a biologic that is given by subcutaneous (under the skin) injection that may be used to treat the following inflammatory conditions:
Does Dupixent treat eczema?
No, Dupixent is only approved to treat atopic dermatitis (a type of eczema ), asthma, chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps, prurigo nodularis, and eosinophilic esophagitis. To learn about these conditions, see the “ What is Dupixent used for? ” section above.
What is Dupixent used for?
DUPIXENT is a prescription medicine used to treat adults and children 6 months of age and older with moderate-to-severe eczema (atopic dermatitis or AD) that is not well controlled with prescription therapies used on the skin (topical), or who cannot use topical therapies. DUPIXENT can be used with or without topical corticosteroids.
Does Dupixent treat an asthma attack?
Dupixent does NOT treat an asthma attack. Can be used in addition to other treatments for chronic rhinosinusitis associated with nasal polyps in adults and eosinophilic esophagitis in adults and children aged 1 year and older, weighing at least 33 pounds (15 kg).
Is Dupixent a monoclonal antibody?
Dupixent contains the active substance dupilumab. Dupilumab is a monoclonal antibody (a type of specialised protein) that blocks the action of proteins called IL-4 and IL-13.
