How does Pulmicort work?
These drugs stop certain cells from producing substances that trigger inflammation. When you take Pulmicort by breathing it into your lungs, the drug helps the cells lining your airways to stop making substances that inflame your airways. This reduces the inflammation in your airways, which makes it easier for air to flow in and out of your lungs.
What is Pulmicort respules used for?
Pulmicort Respules is an inhaled corticosteroid medicine. Pulmicort Respules is a long-term maintenance medicine used to control and prevent asthma symptoms in children ages 12 months to 8 years. Inhaled corticosteroids help to decrease inflammation in the lungs. Inflammation in the lungs can lead to asthma symptoms.
What is Pulmicort flexhaler?
Pulmicort Flexhaler. This form is a dry powder that’s taken as puffs using an inhaler called the Flexhaler. It’s available in two strengths: 90 micrograms (mcg) per puff and 180 mcg per puff. Pulmicort Respules. This form is a liquid that comes inside respules (small plastic containers).
How effective are Pulmicort respules?
Three clinical trials found Pulmicort Respules to be effective in treating mild to moderate asthma in children ages 12 months to 8 years. Over 12 weeks of treatment, children were given either Pulmicort Respules or a placebo. (A placebo is a treatment with no active drug.)
What is Pulmicort respules 0.5 mg/2 mL nebuliser suspension?
The name of your medicine is Pulmicort Respules 0.5 mg/2 ml Nebuliser Suspension (called Pulmicort Respules in this leaflet). Pulmicort Respules contain a medicine called budesonide. This belongs to a group of medicines called ‘corticosteroids’. It works by reducing and preventing swelling and inflammation in your lungs.
What is the difference between Pulmicort respules and budesonide?
Pulmicort Respules is a steroid that is used to prevent asthma attacks. Pulmicort Flexhaler is for use in adults and children at least 6 years old. Pulmicort Respules is for use in children 12 months to 8 years old. Budesonide may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Does Pulmicort respules help with asthma?
Pulmicort Respules helps reduce swelling and inflammation in the lungs, and helps keep the airways open to reduce asthma symptoms. Pulmicort Respules does not treat the sudden symptoms (wheezing, cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain or tightness) of an asthma attack.
