What is Intal inhaler?

Intal Inhaler is a prophylactic agent indicated in the management of patients with bronchial asthma. In patients whose symptoms are sufficiently frequent to require a continuous program of medication, Intal Inhaler is given by inhalation on a regular daily basis. (See DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION.)

Intal Solution for Inhalation is used to prevent bronchial asthma due to allergy, exercise, cold air or irritants, in both adults and children. With regular use, Intal Solution for Inhalation will help to prevent asthma symptoms from occurring.

Is Intal solution for inhalation addictive?

There is no evidence that Intal Solution for Inhalation is addictive. Do not use Intal Solution for Inhalation if you have ever had an allergic reaction to sodium cromoglycate. If you have an allergic reaction you may get a skin rash, have difficulty breathing, get symptoms of hayfever or feel faint.

What is Intal inhaler (cromolyn sodium inhalation aerosol)?

Intal Inhaler (cromolyn sodium inhalation aerosol) is a metered dose aerosol unit for oral inhalation containing micronized cromolyn sodium, sorbitan trioleate with dichlorotetrafluoroethane and dichlorodifluoromethane as propellants.

Is Intal® inhaler still available in the UK?

Clinical author's note Michael Stewart 08/05/2023: Intal® inhaler was discontinued in the United Kingdom in February 2022. At the time of review there are no branded or generic inhaler products containing sodium cromoglicate available in the UK. Sodium cromoglicate eye drops and nasal sprays may still be available.

How long does Intal take to work?

In patients whose symptoms are sufficiently frequent to require a continuous program of medication, INTAL is given by inhalation on a regular daily basis (see Dosage and Administration ). The effect of INTAL is usually evident after several weeks of treatment, although some patients show an almost immediate response.
