Pulmicort contains the active drug budesonide, which is a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids reduce inflammation in your body. These drugs stop certain cells from producing substances that trigger inflammation.

What is Pulmicort used for?

Pulmicort contains budesonide, a corticosteroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Pulmicort is used to prevent asthma attacks. Pulmicort Flexhaler is for use in adults and children at least 6 years old. Pulmicort Respules are for use in children 12 months to 8 years old.

Can budesonide be used in a Symbicort inhaler?

Budesonide is available on its own in an inhaler, and also in combination with another medicine called formoterol in the brands Symbicort®, Fobumix®, WockAIR® and DuoResp®.
