An Aerobika is a handheld device you breathe into. Using your Aerobika can help clear secretions (mucus) from your airways, making it easier to breathe. An Aerobika has 4 parts (see Figure 1). They are: A mouthpiece. This is the part you’ll breathe through when you use the device. A case. This is the part you’ll hold when you use the device.

What if I have any questions about using my Aerobika device?

If you have any questions about using your Aerobika device, please contact the person who has issued you the device. The Aerobika is an oscillating positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) device. It should be used with your breathing exercises which helps you clear mucus from your chest.

How do you use Aerobika?

Place the Aerobika mouthpiece in your mouth and ensure you have a tight seal around it with your lips. Breathe in slowly through your nose and slightly deeper than normal. Pause for two to five seconds to allow your lungs to fill properly. Breathe out through the Aerobika at a steady rate so that you feel the vibrations in your chest.

What is an Aerobika oPEP device and how does it work?

An Aerobika is a type of oscillatory positive expiratory pressure device. It provides a slight resistance as you breathe out, which creates a small amount of back pressure in your airways. This helps them to stay fully open, rather than collapsing.
