It also covers adherence to treatment, risk stratification and self-management. The guideline does not cover severe, difficult-to-control asthma or the management of acute asthma attacks.

Scenario: Newly-diagnosed asthma: Covers the management of children and adults with newly diagnosed or suspected asthma. Scenario: Follow-up: Covers the appropriate follow-up of children and adults who have asthma. Scenario: Acute exacerbation of asthma: Covers the management of an acute exacerbation of asthma.
Is there a UK-wide guideline on asthma diagnosis & monitoring?
The British Thoracic Society, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network and NICE are working together to produce UK-wide guidance on asthma diagnosis and monitoring and chronic asthma management that will update and replace this guideline.
